ALWAYS WORKING FOR THE PEOPLE
- Served as a senior staff member with the Council of the District of Columbia in co-developing programs, activities, and assisting in crafting legislation to improve the state of Ward 8 on behalf of Former Mayor and Current Councilman Marion Barry. Responsible for developing strategic messaging to 71,000 Ward 8 residents.
- Served as a senior staff member for the DC Board of Education working to improve the quality of public education for DC students with Former Board of Education President Robert Bobb and the late Ward 8 State Board Representative William Lockridge. At the personal request of our former Mayor, I served as the Transition Leader to State Board of Education. Responsible for informing and engaging with District residents parents; including thousands living here in Ward 8, about the change in the charter.
- Worked with numerous Black Congressional Members and State Legislators in improving the quality of life of thousands of Americans by co‐drafting and implementing programs and legislation on behalf of urban cities across this country.
- Served as senior member of several elected officials working to galvanize hundreds of DC residents to register to vote or to participate in the Democratic process by voting in elections, both locally and nationally. Worked as a senior member responsible for drafting campaign and legislative agendas.
- Served as a lead member of the "State of the Black Woman" team with now, First Lady Michelle Obama. Travelled across the country developing enrichment and advancement programs and tutorials for young, African American girls.
- And on a very personal note, I have worked as a single mother educating, inspiring, and being an example to my 10 year old daughter, when society seems to have another agenda for our young, innocent girls – always teaching her the true values of community service and participatory government.
